This weekend, Cooper and I were listening to a discussion on The Splendid Table about duck egg recipes.

This weekend, Cooper and I were listening to a discussion on The Splendid Table about duck egg recipes.
After a couple minutes, Cooper looks at me puzzled and declares:
“But if you eat duck eggs, you won’t have any ducklings.”
“hey mom, when I close my eyes I can see all the books I’ve read!” - Cooper
“And when I do this..”
Covers one eye.
“I can see all the movies I’ve seen.”
I thought Cooper was vegetarian because he didn’t like the texture of meat..not cause he felt badly for animal.
Cooper and I were talking about the change in seasons and the corresponding holidays and he asks:
“What’s Thanksgiving?”
“Well, it’s a day when we say ‘thank you’ to all the things that make us happy.”
Feeling confident in my answer, I decide it’s time for a history lesson,
“A long time ago, some people made a very long, difficult journey across an ocean…”
Just then, the parallels between ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ and Thanksgiving became overwhelming and I couldn’t continue.
After dinner this evening, the kids and I went outside to clean up the toys.
Waverly and I walked past the orange Crazy Coupe - and I said, “Waverly can you take the car to the garage please.”
Then I asked Cooper to put away the things he was playing with, and I picked up the remainder.
A moment later I turn around - and the Crazy Coupe is still in the same spot and I don’t see Waverly anywhere…but I hear her frustration cry.
I look around the yard, and she’s standing in the driveway, next to the Cruiser, banging on the driver’s door.
“Is this a monster truck?”
“Yes, Cooper, I think it’s monster truck”
“But monster has an E and an R in it, and this says M A D E I N C H I N A”
On the way out the door today, Cooper asked me:
“Is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt’s name Cooper too?”
Yesterday, when we were outside playing, I asked Cooper if he would bring up the garbage cans.
Waverly then distracted me, when I turn back around, Cooper had brought up one of the garbage cans up from the end of the drive.
Awesome.
Then he did the other one.
My mind is whirring with possibilities.
