Buying Time January 22, 2007
We’ve been real fortunate with Cooper. He’s slept through the night for as long as I can remember (my brain has erased all “sleepless nights” that also match “crying baby”). But it’s winter now, and we needed to nip this “waking up at 5:30am” thing in the bud.
Earlier, we counted the ounces he drank in his final bottle of the night. Each half ounce bought us, his weary parents, another 15 minutes of sleep.
Since he’s done with bottles, the trick - as any winter sports fanatic will tell you - is layers. Cooper gets a onesie under a fuzzy footie pajama under a sleep sack (think, vest with the bottom sewn shut).
Forget one of those…and he’s screaming at 5:30 am.
Now, if history serves - I’ve acknowledged this pattern, and now he’ll change it.
Good night.
